Newest in my environmental art series inspired by Avatar the Last Airbender. Here I focused mostly on the feelings of isolation and serenity, which I sort of associated with Katara in this episode. She just has herself and can't blame the trouble on anyone else. Much like ME, trying to draw clumps of infuriating foliage.
You even put her hair on! Awesome work
I am seriously in love with your art. No joke.
I'm flattered! Thank you for all the support.
But they are lovely clumps of infuriating foliage!
You convey serenity and isolation very well in this. It's soothing and wonderful.
Beautiful work...has an essence of Magic and wonder. Very well done...looks like a painting done with hand and brush.
Foresty! That's a nice little scene. The trees and plants look nice, all those blotches and spots to represent leaves and grass look like it would have taken forever. I imagine that's super tough to get the visual idea of plants without going into tons of detail considering all the branches, blades, and leaves that you can find on a normal tree. And as usual, love the size reference with the little Katara there. A little spot of blue in a whole bunch of nature green.
Thank you! You're right, the foliage "clumps" were really challenging. It's fun to really study the way leaves sit on trees and try to imitate that in drawing, but it's also pretty frustrating and REALLY time consuming. I think I could've gotten a much more loose, impressionistic look that wouldn't have involved so much detailing, but it was still fun... I kind've treated each clump/bough/bush like a separate attempt, and it made it hard to stop. I definitely want to do more and get better at greenery.
